Behind the Hood

I never know how to address this issue without giving away too much info. Let’s just say I’m speaking from experience here: unless you’re Jewish, there is no need for circumcision. You don’t spread diseases, it’s not unhealthy, blah blah blah. I’m not sexually active anymore, but if I still was and this myth about the uncircumcised was true…well…err…I’d be in big trouble.
But enough about me, I bring this up because our wonderful government seems to think they need to get involved in this personal matter. From the Cato Institute (hat tip Instapundit):
“Now people at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (those folks who often carry themselves as if they, too, had the ear of the Lord) are mulling a national campaign to promote “universal circumcision” for all boys in the United States in an effort to reduce the spread of HIV. Additionally, as The New York Times reported this week, the CDC is thinking about expanding the campaign to target promiscuous adult heterosexual men. (Abstinence or circumcision? How quickly do you think sex becomes overrated?)
Here’s the problem: Why is the CDC launching campaigns to “universally” promote a medical procedure? If you’re an adult (and nuts) or a parent, no one stands in your way of having a bris. Today 79 percent of men are circumcised already, and even if 100 percent were, the effect on the collective health of the nation would be negligible. If this is the standard, where does it stop?
Though dismissed by public-option proponents, this is an example of how government persuasion can influence our decisions—first by nudging and then, inevitably, by rationing.
The larger, more pertinent point for today is that government has zero business running campaigns—and these things inevitably turn into scaremongering efforts—that try to influence our choices regarding our children and our bodies. Especially when the procedure has so little to do with society’s collective health. Circumcision is a personal choice.”This Point Cuts Both Ways: Forget death panels, let’s talk circumcision panels – Reason Magazine

I’ll tell you – if the CDC wants to make their campaign effective, tell them to take a survey of what women prefer, and then publish the results. Forget the so-called transfer of STD’s from uncircumcised penises – the real issue is that most women (myself included), think they look gross.
And they can quote me on that!

Dear, click the first hyperlink above and watch the Penn and Teller BS show on the subject. The have the women take another survey asking them if they like guys who are premature? The uncircumcised last longer in bed.

That still doesn’t make it aesthetically pleasing. As far as longevity goes, there are plenty of things one can do to climax if their partner is premature. But if I personally find a penis unattractive, I do NOT want to have sex with it.
